Privacy Policy
How DNS4IN handles your data — or rather, doesn't.
Last updated: April 4, 2026
Our Core Principle
DNS4IN is built on a simple promise: we do not log, store, or sell your DNS queries. Your browsing activity is yours alone.
What We Don't Collect
- •No DNS query logs
- •No IP address logs
- •No timestamps of queries
- •No device fingerprints
- •No browsing profiles
- •No analytics on individual user behavior
How Queries Are Processed
All DNS queries are processed entirely in RAM. Nothing is written to disk. When our servers restart, all transient data is gone — by design. There are no databases, no log files, no persistent storage of query data.
Encryption
We support DNS-over-TLS (DoT) on port 853 and DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) on port 443, both using TLS 1.3. Plain DNS on port 53 is available but unencrypted — we recommend using DoT or DoH for full privacy.
Data Localization
All DNS resolution happens on servers physically located in India (Bangalore and Delhi NCR). Our Frankfurt server is used only for the connection test page (test.joindns4.in) and uptime monitoring (status.joindns4.in) — it does not process DNS queries.
EDNS Client Subnet
EDNS Client Subnet (ECS) is disabled by default, meaning your IP subnet is never forwarded to authoritative nameservers. For a small number of services that break without ECS (AWS, Netflix/fast.com, Archive.today, Netlify), we forward only those specific domains to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) and Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1). All other queries remain fully private.
Blocklists
We use advanced blocklists to block 130,000+ malicious domains including ads, trackers, malware, and phishing sites. These are open-source lists — no data about your queries is shared with any blocklist provider. Lists are updated daily via automated download.
Third-Party Services
- Vultr: Server hosting provider. They have access to network-level data (server uptime, bandwidth) but not DNS query content.
- AWS Route 53: Used for DNS routing of our domain (joindns4.in) only — not for resolving user queries. Route 53 handles geoproximity routing between our servers.
- Let's Encrypt: Issues our TLS certificates. Only our domain name is shared during certificate issuance.
- Vercel: Hosts this website (joindns4.in). Does not handle DNS queries.
- ImprovMX: Forwards emails sent to @joindns4.in addresses. Does not handle DNS queries.
- Web3Forms: Processes whitelist/blacklist request form submissions from test.joindns4.in.
Aggregate Statistics
We may collect aggregate, non-identifying statistics such as total query counts, cache hit ratios, and uptime percentages for operational monitoring. These statistics cannot be traced back to any individual user.
Data Retention
Zero. There is no retention period because nothing is stored.
Children's Privacy
DNS4IN does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
